Question by : Masturbation helps my anxiety attacks? Does this mean my anxiety disorder is caused my hormonal imbalance?
I just had a horrid panic attack and I’m not on prescription medicines. I figured serotonin is a way to combat anxiety, and that masturbation releases that. So I did that- and now my anxiety has dropped (instantly). I still feel a tiny bit on edge, but my brain doesn’t care enough to cause a full panic attack
Could this mean my anxiety disorder is from a major hormonal imbalance?
I know this probably sounds gross.

No. Anxiety is fear, most commonly fear of rejection. Masturbation is soothing and relaxing. Keep on taking care of your needs but also work to conquer the fear.

Question by Alison C.: Any tips for a first-time traveller who suffers from anxiety and panic attacks?
My younger sister, who has never flown in an airplane in her life, is coming to visit me in Italy over the summer. She is very excited, but also very nervous about the trip, because she will be travelling on an airplane for the first time ever, she will be alone, and she sometimes has anxiety attacks or panic attacks in situations like that. She is 22 years old and she has seen her doctor about medication, etc. I’m just looking for any tips for how to make the trip as stress-free as possible for her.
Also, should she inform cabin crew on the plane about her situation, in case she does have a panic attack? And if so, how should she go about doing that? She is worried that cabin crew might over-react and think she is a threat or very ill or something, which could cause chaos on the airplane. Has anyone out there ever dealt with this kind of thing before? Is it ok to give a stewardess a note about such a condition?

she needs anxiety meds and maybe you should just explain to her what goes on once you’re on the plane and all that stuff…and telling the cabin crew isn’t such a bad idea either.

Question by ProudMama4710: How can I convince people that my anxiety attacks are real?
I was diagnosed in May of this year with anxiety attacks and depression. I don’t have that many attacks anymore but when I do, they are VERY scary and VERY real. I feel like I’m going to die and I literally have to talk out loud to myself to calm myself down. No one in my family believes me when I tell them that these are real attacks. I had an anxiety attack on Saturday while my family was over and my cousins came running over to me trying to hold me and pat my back I kept telling them to leave me alone and not to touch me and my cousin got really mad and now she won’t talk to me along with the rest of my family. They all think I over exaggerate these attacks but I don’t.

Question by Dan S: Hi I have had anxiety attacks the past 2 days and need a quick fix by tomorrow!?
I think this is an anxiety attack, because I feel extremely hot, sweat a lot, and feel an extreme feeling of something in between of fear, nervousness, and annoyance at random times at school.

It could be an anxiety attack, but it could be any number of other things as well. You really should talk to your doctor. If it turns out that it is an anxiety attack, don’t worry! They are manageable. You’ll be ok once you start a self help program and learn to control your attacks. Good luck!

Question by Jessica C: am I having seizures or anxiety attacks?
I have been seizure free for 10+ years now as a result of brain surgery I underwent in 1999.I have always dealt with a lot of anxiety and panic attacks for several years. Over the past few years I have been experiencing panic attacks which I know are sometimes associated with epilepsy. Last night I had an aura that lasted longer than usual and led right into an anxiety attack. I hope it is not seizure related but I wanted some thoughts. Am I having a different type of seizure. I never lost consciousness or the ability to clearly think.
