Could this indicate an anxiety disorder?

Question by Jessica B: Could this indicate an anxiety disorder?
I have almost daily occurences where my stomach feels tense and fluttery for no reason, like the way you feel when you’re really nervous. Sometimes I feel this when I have a reason to be and sometimes i just have it for no reason. Its so uncomfortable and I hate feeling on edge all the time, and the physical feeling of anxiety makes it worse. Could this be a sign of an anxiety disorder? Are there any tips to get this feeling to go away and calm myself down?

Q&A: I think I have Social Anxiety Disorder, but how can I tell my parents?

Question by ?: I think I have Social Anxiety Disorder, but how can I tell my parents?
I have all the symptoms of Social Anxiety Disorder and it has really interfered with my life. I don’t know how to tell my parents and ask to see a professional to make sure and maybe put me on some medication. I can’t even talk to people, or have some talk to me with out blushing and getting sweaty and if I do talk to someone I always feel like I regret everything I said. I avoid all situations where someone could possibly socialize with me.

what is this anxiety disorder called?

Question by : what is this anxiety disorder called?
I have a specific type of anxiety. suppose i am playing chess, my concentration is on “i must win” instead of concentration on the game itself. These kind of thoughts interfere with my normal office work. what type of anxiety disorder is this and what can i do about it?

Answer by benjo_ferrer_iii
well, i can’t help with the name of the disorder…

but with the actual disorder you are talking about, I don’t think it is really a disorder for it could be just a case of good positive thinking… but if you say it is interfering with your work, then maybe it is something to ask an expert for…

I would say lessen your thinking about the outcome of the project or whatever you are doing, just concentrate on the task at hand…

Overcoming anxiety 35 – Coping statements

In the recovery process it is crucial to reverse our negative thinking patterns and beliefs, replacing them with positive and realistic ones. In this video I present one of my tools I use to do just that.

Please Note: If you feel like you can relate to this video, please do not self diagnose yourself. In order to find out if you have BPD it is necessary to see a professional therapist. The song is “My Skin”, by Natalie Merchant Dedicated to those that suffer from BPD and those who wish to understand it better. This is the very first youtube video I made. I was debating on whether or not to put this on because it was so depressing. I didn’t want to contribute to any further suffering, but after watching a video about how someone feels that has BPD, I felt like I could relate so much that I had to create my own video in hopes that other people might find something in it to relate to and not feel so alone.

for men with social anxiety disorder and who have a girlfreind?

Question by wrapiscrap: for men with social anxiety disorder and who have a girlfreind?
My whole life I have been dealing with social anxiety disorder and have only just recently got to the point where I can talk naturally to women. I’m just wandering how did you actually get to the next stage of actually having the courage to ask a woman out.

Best answer:

Answer by scentless_apprentice02
Asking women out can be difficult especially if you are afraid of rejection. The only way I feel a person can gain courage is to face your fears. The more you try asking women out the easier it will get for you. Try it, you may be surprised with yourself. Only you can make your dreams come true.

Whats the difference between “Social Phobia” and “Social Anxiety Disorder”?

Question by : Whats the difference between “Social Phobia” and “Social Anxiety Disorder”?
I have social anxiety disorder, some people refer to it as social phobia. Is it the same thing? Or is there a difference? Are they wrong? Am I wrong? Thanks :)

Best answer:

Answer by anghellic1
I think there’s a slight difference, social phobia is the fear of being around people, while social anxiety disorder is a milder version where you don’t mind being in public but you get very nervous and you’ll usually find yourself constantly checking yourself like how you look and you pay close attention to everything you do hoping you look ok.

Discover: Nutritional Research for Bipolar disorder.

New research reveals that a supplement from Truehope may help with bipolar disorder and possibly other mood disorders such as add, adhd, depression, anxiety etc… I know. Sounds to good to be true. All without Antidepressants or any psychotropic medications.

How can someone be treated for social anxiety disorder?

Question by Sam: How can someone be treated for social anxiety disorder?
Think about it for a second before you answer… wouldn’t they be too afraid of even making an appointment with someone or talking to a doctor about it to tell them what’s going on? I mean, I’m terrified of talking to anyone, so I don’t know, maybe I have social anxiety disorder, but “anyone” includes doctors and everything, so there’s no way in hell I could ever work up the nerve to actually tell anyone that in real life. I can’t even deal with calling a friend on the phone to ask about a homework assignment, let alone a complete stranger to make an appointment to talk about something that’s actually embarassing! So what I don’t get is how anyone can actually be diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, cause it seems to me that if they made it as far as being diagnosed then the probably don’t have it.
Ok, everyone so far has pretty much missed the point. I’m actually perfectly happy most of the time to be alone, but the point is that if I DID want to get treated for “social anxiety disorder,” I wouldn’t be able to because it would make me too nervous, and if I could do it then I wouldn’t have need to be treated in the first place. Get it?

You can go to the doctor and explain it to him or her. They will prescribe medicine for it. A friend of mine takes some anxiety meds and it makes her feel more at ease.
