Learn to Read – Reading Comprehension

Nobody’s sharper than Marko the Pencil when it comes to helping students learn to read for meaning and prepare for tests. His tips are super-effective and his outrageous antics keep students on task. With Marko’s guidance, students ace a practice test by learning how to read passages, find key words, and determine the best answers. Students stay calm and relaxed knowing they have the tools they need to succeed! Grades 2-4. A team of teachers—who consistently get superior performance from their students on standardized tests—helped us create this video. We carefully examined reading tests in several states to identify winning strategies for boosting scores and reducing anxiety. Lets face it: preparing for state-mandated tests is not a favorite activity of teachers and students. But there’s no reason it can’t be fun when you have an entertaining character to connect with kids. That’s why were so pleased to have Vic Mignogna playing the voice of Marko the Pencil. Vic is well known for his award-winning acting in anime cartoons and video games. Vic won Best Actor, 2007 American Anime Awards. As a special reward at the end of Reading Comprehension, Marko makes an appearance at the Golden Stylus Comedy room to show just how sharp he can be! His kid-friendly jokes will have everyone laughing. Reading Comprehension includes: • Identifying the Main Idea • Using Context Clues • Making Inferences • Recalling Details and Sequencing • Drawing Conclusions • Following Directions

Having installed brakes, I was ready to take the little electric car into the alleyway for a speed test. Although it has a theoretical top speed of 35 mph, the factory speed setting in the Club Car golf cart’s Curtis controller is keeping me at 20 mph. The good news is that everything works well: ADC 6.7″ sepex motor gives acceptable acceleration, the Geo Metro automatic transmission shifts through all three gears properly and the brakes stop it all with assurance. Success all around.

Q&A: Anxiety over HIV test?

Question by Arakune: Anxiety over HIV test?
[Please keep all rude answers to yourself... thank you]

Around Aug 17th I engaged in unprotected anal sex with a HIV+ person whom I was unaware that was infected at the time. I was the receiver. Two weeks after the horrific realization i went to get tested… my tests came back negative but I had contracted HSV-1… Sept 25th I went to get tested again.. a week before that I had a three day headache that never let up except when i slept…

My question is this… what is the likelihood of my tests coming back negative again.. and if they do should i assume i am safe since its been almost 40 days? I haven’t been going through much depression anymore.. but as the thought of getting my test draws near I feel the anxiety and depression creeping up again.

Also.. the person who did this has changed his number and moved… I don’t know what to believe but i get the feeling it was done to keep himself “safe?”
Thank you both I am still waiting for the results… its kinda rare to hear a story from someone who engaged in unprotected anal sex… and continue with the follow ups.. (or maybe i just cant find the stories over the internet)… maybe ill be the first. I will comment again with my results when i get them.

Well, I understand your anxiety but please relax. Let me tell you why.

1) The chance of contracting HIV from a single episode of unprotected anal sex is estimated around 1 in 100 (around 1%).

2) With modern HIV tests, almost all infected people test positive at 6-8 weeks after exposure. But the guideline says you have to confirm it with a 3 months conclusive test.

3) Although your activity is considered high-risk, your tests are very good indication that you are not infected.

My personal opinion is that your test will be negative. But as I said, you need to confirm it with a 3 months test.

Let us know your result. Good luck.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

Actually it is not rare. Go to www.medhelp.org and select HIV Prevention forums and read the similar stories. I actually have read a lot of them. There is a comminity forum and there is an expert forum. Questions in expert forum are answered by medical professionals. Very usuful and trustable site.

Strategies for Taking Multiple Choice Tests

Mary Ann is the director of the Academic Achievement and Access Center at the University of Kansas. In this academic success guide she discusses strategies and techniques for taking multiple choice tests.

Some things about why Aspergers people are targeted by bullies and some things I learned over time. Aspergers people also should do their own research and read on it; the book “House Rules” by Jodi Picoult is very helpful. I did not ever receive specialized one on one counseling to address my Aspergers by someone familiar with autism because I didn’t realize it existed and I don’t think my parents did either (or took the time to care; middle child syndrome; we kind of get brushed aside) but that would have helped more of the socializing mistakes; as well as more research about it.
